Let’s talk brunch! Today, my friend Becky and I brunched at the ever so wonderful My Kitchen Witch Café in Monmouth Beach! (Yes. I made brunch a verb. Don’t question it). I love a good brunch, and My Kitchen Witch serves a great brunch! I used to go to this café all the time with my family and even had my birthday party there one year when I was little. Everyone came in their pajamas. What a cute little food-loving dork I was– (not much has changed hehe). I hadn’t been in ages, so I was so excited to go back!
My Kitchen Witch is an adorable gem of a restaurant. It has such a fun and kitschy vibe! Tons of witchy-themed knick knacks and signs are scattered around the walls and in every nook and cranny of this cute café. Hand painted tables– ours had a cow on it, chalkboards with specials written on them, and warm and bright colored walls give My Kitchen Witch a casual and friendly atmosphere that will make you feel right at home.
I started my meal with the “Ozmopolitan”– freshly squeezed strawberry lemonade. It was not overpoweringly sweet or tart, and it was so refreshing! I could sit under an umbrella on the beach and sip this lemonade all day and be very very happy. Becky had hazlenut coffee. Yummm…
Every time I go to My Kitchen Witch, I always get their homemade buttermilk biscuits with strawberry butter, so we shared those. These biscuits are warm, thick, and soft in the middle. They’re everything biscuits should be. They are the creme de la creme of the world of biscuits, and slathering them with the luscious strawberry butter makes them even more perfect!
Becky and I then both got the “Eggs Bene’witch’” which is griddled, thick slices of olive bread with lemon artichoke spread, topped with organic arugula and two beautifully poached eggs, and served with “Witch’s potatoes” which are just perfectly seasoned breakfast potatoes. You will notice tons of pictures from all different angles of this meal because these eggs are beautiful at every angle and I thought it was important to showcase their beauty. These are some very important eggs. Is there anything more gorgeous than an oozy, gooey, runny yolk? I think not. So many delicious flavors came from the bitter arugula, salty olives, and lemony artichoke spread and the yolk gushed over it all like gorgeous liquid sunshine. Yes yes yes yes yes!!!
In addition to the food they serve at the café, in front of the store they have their own fresh, organic, and vegan juice and smoothie bar which I’m dying to try, and next door they have a little shop called the “Grab- and- Go Magical Market” in which you can buy their pre-made entrees, pastries, coffee, and even their homemade pancake mix! Also, after a little research, I found out that the owner of the restaurant began her career with catering for television. Now, she does TV catering for tons of shows including lots of Food Network shows, Celebrity Apprentice, Project Runway (According to an interview I read, Heidi Klum always requests her carrot cake!), Top Chef, What Not to Wear, and music videos for Bruce Springsteen, King Cudi, John Mayer, and lots more! So cool!
Everything at My Kitchen Witch is so fresh and delicious. Its real, good quality, homey cooking is what makes My Kitchen Witch so spectacular. It’s magical. It’s wickedly good. Please laugh at my cheesy jokes and I’ll love you forever.
Enjoy! Love, The Perky Foodie
